Chandrayaan-3 India’s Moon Mission

Chandrayaan-3 was anticipated to be India’s third lunar exploration mission, following the profitable Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2 missions. The main aim of the Chandrayaan program is to discover the Moon’s floor and examine its composition, topography, and mineralogy.

Chandrayaan-1, launched in 2008, made important contributions to lunar science by discovering water molecules on the lunar floor. Chandrayaan-2, launched in 2019, included an orbiter, lander (Vikram), and rover (Pragyan). While the orbiter continues to check the Moon from orbit, the lander’s tried gentle touchdown was not profitable.

Chandrayaan-3 was anticipated to be a lander-rover mission, much like Chandrayaan-2, with a concentrate on attaining a profitable gentle touchdown on the Moon’s floor and deploying a rover to conduct scientific experiments.
