The UAE has confused the necessity to shield civilians and civilian infrastructure after Russia carried out air strikes on ports and grain-storage services in Odesa.
The UAE’s Deputy Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the UN Security Council Mohamed Abushahab reiterated the decision “on the parties to abide by their obligations under international humanitarian law to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure”.
During the UN Security Council assembly regarding Odesa, he confused: “Civilian objects mustn’t ever be the goal of assault.
“We reiterate at this time that we should exert all efforts to convey this battle to regulate lasting peace that’s in step with the UN Charter and respect Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”

The harm and destruction to important infrastructure in Ukraine is estimated to be within the billions of US {dollars}, with UNESCO verifying harm to 270 cultural sights for the reason that starting of the battle.
Since February 2022, almost 25,000 civilian casualties have been recorded in Ukraine, together with greater than 9,000 killed and near 16,000 injured.
