Shares of Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) fell about 1.4% on the news

The United States is contemplating new restrictions on exports of synthetic intelligence chips to China, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing individuals acquainted with the matter.

Shares of Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) fell about 1.4% on the news.

Nvidia, Micron, and AMD are among the many U.S. chipmakers caught within the crossfire between China and the Biden administration.

In September, Nvidia had stated that U.S. officers requested the corporate to cease exporting two prime computing chips for synthetic intelligence work to China.

The Commerce Department will cease the shipments of chips made by Nvidia and different chip corporations to prospects in China as early as July, the report stated.

The Department of Commerce didn’t instantly reply to a Reuters request for remark.

The new curbs being mulled by the division would ban the sale of even A800 chips with out a license, the report added.
