Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has retired from soccer after 28 years wherein he reached distinctive milestones for membership and nation.

The 45-year-old, who in 2006 lifted the World Cup, received 10 Serie A titles with Juventus and a Ligue 1 title with Paris St Germain.

“That’s all folks! You gave me everything. I gave you everything. We did it together,” Buffon mentioned in a press release.

Widely considered one of many biggest keepers of all time, he ended his profession the place he began, at Parma who’re within the Italian second tier, having struggled with accidents in his ultimate season.

Buffon joined Juve from Parma in 2001 and spent most of his profession with the membership, aside from a season at PSG in 2018-19, earlier than returning to Turin after which to Parma in June 2021.
