WGS 2024 to host Industry and Advanced Technology Forum

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) is about to host the annual Industry and Advanced Technology Forum on the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024.

In cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

In line with WGS’ purpose of shaping a greater future for humanity and the 2024 themes of ‘Reimagining Development’, ‘Future Economies’, ‘Sustainability’ and ‘New Global Shifts’, the discussion board will deal with driving sustainable industrial improvement.

The platform will unite trade leaders and know-how innovators to form industrial pathways. It goals to facilitate information trade, strategic partnerships and foresight on know-how to spice up the economic sector’s contribution to decarbonisation consistent with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative.

The discussion board helps the targets of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, Operation 300bn, which goals to boost the expansion and competitiveness of the economic sector, stimulate innovation, promote the adoption of superior know-how within the trade, and cement the UAE’s place as a world hub for future industries.

By internet hosting the discussion board, the ministry seeks to speed up the adoption of sustainability practices into industrial processes consistent with Sustainable Development Goal No. 9, which requires constructing resilient infrastructure, selling sustainable industrialisation, and fostering innovation. The initiative is consistent with the UAE’s plans to attain sustainable financial improvement and MoIAT’s strategic targets to assist the nationwide industrial sector by means of the adoption of superior know-how options, driving the sector’s development and sustainability, enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness and selling it as a regional and international hub for future industries.

The Industry and Advanced Technology Forum brings collectively decision-makers- and policy-makers, in addition to native, regional and worldwide authorities and personal sector officers, to debate superior industries, discover the influence of applied sciences throughout sectors, and strengthen international partnerships.

Panel discussions

During the discussion board, MoIAT will host three-panel discussions. The first, titled ‘The Industrial Decarbonisation Roadmap post-COP28’, will deal with the essential position of worldwide cooperation in accelerating the decarbonisation of trade and provide chains consistent with international local weather change efforts and attaining sustainable financial improvement. The session may also talk about financing to assist low-carbon sectors.

The session can be held with the participation of Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Ahmed Samir Saleh, Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Trade; Mehmet Fatih Kacir, Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology, and Riad Mazour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade.

Technology switch

The second session, titled ‘Technology Transfer and the Role of International Relations,’ will assess applied sciences’ native and worldwide motion. It will deal with the significance of worldwide cooperation in selling innovation to develop know-how options, improve their switch and trade, and promote equitable entry globally.

The session can be held with the participation of Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Advanced Sciences and Technology on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Keith Azzopardi Tanti, Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation.

Quality infrastructure

The third session, titled ‘Quality Infrastructure,’ will deal with the significance of strong high quality infrastructure in attaining sustainable industrial improvement, driving sustainability and facilitating commerce.

The session can be held with the participation of Dr. Farah Ali Al Zarooni, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Standards and Regulations Sector at MoIAT, Jo Cops, President of the International Electrotechnical Commission, Ciyong Zou, Deputy Director-General and the Managing Director at UNIDO, and Ramy Zaki, CEO of Multinational Companies Business Group.
