RTA completes highway enhancements throughout 14 Dubai websites in 2023

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has performed a collection of visitors enhancements at 14 websites throughout Dubai in 2023 which contributed to chopping journey instances by as much as 50 per cent at sure places and enhanced the automobile capability of quite a few roads by as a lot as 25 per cent.

Key visitors enhancements undertaken in 2023 included the improve of the free proper exit from Al Asayel Street to Financial Centre Street in the direction of Al Khail Road which doubled the exit’s capability from one lane to 2, enhanced the visitors stream and decreased the journey time from the Business Bay space to the Financial Centre Street from 5 minutes to 1 minute.

Substantial enhancements on Al Fay Street added a number of lanes resulting in the roundabout and utilised the present bridge to ease congestion and improve visitors circulation. It resulted in halving the journey time for each coming into and exiting the Dubai Production District and Dubai Sports City District by 50 per cent.

These measures lowered the journey time for exiting Al Barsha to Umm Suqeim Street enroute to Al Khail Road, from quarter-hour down 5 minutes.

Other measures included widening the right-hand exit from Al Rebat Street to the Business Bay Crossing from one lane to a few and becoming it with visitors lights to extend capability and enhance the extent of visitors service in that route. These measures eradicated automobile queues on Al Rebat Street, minimised visitors overlapping, and elevated visitors security requirements.

Furthermore, the exit on Emirates Road in the direction of the Maliha Street intersection (Exit 71) was widened from two lanes to a few which boosted the exit’s capability from 4,000 automobiles per hour to six,000 per hour.

Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA stated, “The improvements are set to continue throughout 2024. The plan includes executing multiple projects aimed at enhancing traffic flow across 31 sites in the emirate. Main areas include Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Awir Street, Abu Baker Al Siddique street, Al Rebat Street, Al Khail Road, and Al Meydan Street.”
