Luc Besson makes emotional return to Venice with ‘Dogman’ film

An emotional Luc Besson introduced his newest movie “Dogman” to the Venice Film Festival on Thursday, speaking at size about what had impressed him and his work course of.
“The only two things that can save you are love and art, definitely not money. When you have both you’re lucky,” stated the French filmmaker, who was applauded by most of the journalists.
At one level he appeared to combat again tears as he thanked his actors, Caleb Landry-Jones and Jojo T. Gibbs, and producer spouse Virginie Besson-Silla, who joined him within the press convention.
Besson, who directed previous hits equivalent to The Fifth Element, Nikita and Lucy, stated that ever since he was a youngster he had all the time woken up early to write down his screenplays.
“It is my way to escape this world,” he stated. “There’s no genius (to it), there is work. You just have to work and work and keep what’s good and work on what’s not good and work on it again.”
Dogman depicts the tormented lifetime of a younger man, performed by Landry-Jones, who was abused as a toddler and finds salvation by way of the love of stray canines that he takes care of.
He stated he bought the thought after studying a news story a couple of couple in France who stored their younger baby in a cage. “I just tried to imagine his life (afterwards) … What do you become, a terrorist or Mother Teresa?”
Besson revealed that one of many main challenges of the movie was deciding on, after which working with, a pack of canines who’re the love and satisfaction of the tortured protagonist.
“One thing I didn’t expect is there were 25 trainers and they have two dogs each. The dogs just act to the voice of their master, so when you say ‘action’ you have 25 people screaming at the same time,” Besson stated.
Dogman is one in all 23 films competing for the distinguished Golden Lion award on the Venice Film Festival, which runs till September 9.
