The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), in collaboration with the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP), has unveiled an initiative to analysis cloud seeding supplies.

Named Cloud-Aerosol-Electrical Interactions for Rainfall Enhancement Experiment (CLOUDIX) the marketing campaign, performed from Al Ain International Airport, will examine the effectiveness of varied cloud seeding supplies with and with out electrical cost.

Teaming up with US-based cloud physics analysis and instrumentation firm, Stratton Park Engineering Company (SPEC), it can make use of coordinated flight missions throughout UAE airspace and elements of Oman.

The analysis will use NCM’s cloud seeding plane alongside SPEC’s instrumented Learjet plane, which acquired UAEREP’s Fourth Cycle grant for pioneering analysis on enhancing seeding supplies by electrical prices.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, President of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and Director-General of NCM, emphasised the marketing campaign’s alignment with nationwide priorities like water safety, stating it showcases NCM’s dedication to fostering progressive analysis which addresses challenges in water sustainability, notably because the UAE prepares to host COP28 within the coming yr.

Its aims additionally embody coaching specialised personnel at NCM to conduct cloud physics analysis and analyse information from optical array probes and scattering probes onboard the analysis plane.

The analysis goals to watch pure secondary ice nucleation processes at excessive altitudes, contributing to boosting the consequences of cloud seeding, resulting in elevated rainfall.
