Military jet crashes in northern Vietnam, 1 pilot killed

A pilot was killed when a Vietnamese air pressure fighter jet crashed throughout a coaching session on Tuesday within the north of the nation, state media reported.

The accident occurred at midday in Yen Bai province and the 30-year-old pilot died whereas attempting to land the Russian-made Su-22 jet at an area airport, the official Vietnam News Agency reported.

Vietnam’s defence ministry has launched an investigation into the reason for the accident, it added.

Two pilots had been killed in the same train involving an Su-22 in central Vietnam in 2018, whereas two had been pressured to eject over the South China Sea in 2015 when their Su-22 jet went down.

Vietnam depends closely on Russia for its navy procurements, though it’s looking for to diversify its tools and arms suppliers.
